Swedish Massage

Classical Massage is the European term for Swedish Style massage here in the U.S. All massage professionals are trained in Swedish massage, which is the foundation for massage in the West. Swedish massage uses five types of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement  (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in hospital patients with osteorthritis of the knee, over a period of eight weeks.

Deep Tissue Techniques

Deep Tissue Massage is a set of techniques used to access deeper muscles and fascia. Deep Tissue techniques helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation due to arthritis and tendinitis. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform this type of massage, otherwise tights surface muscles will prevent your massage professional from reaching deeper musculature.
